Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
Students and staff at CLCC are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results. Given the huge uncertainly that has surrounded results this year, it is lovely to be able to see so many of our students collecting the results they deserve today.
We have seen some exceptional individual results for students. Our 6 top performing students between them achieved 40 Grade 9s! That is a truly fantastic achievement.
The announcement earlier this week that students would be awarded grades based on those calculated by their teachers based on evidence of work over the last eighteen months gives a much fairer set of results for students. We fully support the decision that students should be awarded grades based on those determined by the school. It has been disappointing to see continued confusion and a lack of clarity surrounding these results when attention should be focused on recognising the hard work and commitment students have put into their studies over the last five years.
Today is a day of celebration for our students and we want to congratulate and praise all our students for the resilience they have shown throughout the last few months. They have faced challenges that no other GCSE students have had to encounter. The disruption to studies has been unprecedented but our students have shown that consistently working hard from the start of their courses has reaped huge benefits for their results today.
Thank you to all our staff who have worked incredibly hard with our students to ensure success during this unique time. We are so proud of the resilience and determination our students have shown!
