World Book Day 2023

We’ve been celebrating World Book Day! ⭐

Our English Department Staff dressed up as characters from their favourite books, and this included “Gangsta Granny”, “Frodo Baggins”, “Oliver Twist”, characters from MacBeth, and definitely NOT Princess Fiona from Shrek..!

Students have had a number of World Book Day themed activities this week in our library, including games of “pass the book” and a visit from a published young adult author and ex Countesthorpe Academy student, Sarah Ann Juckes!

Sarah performed readings of her book, The World Between Us, and tasked the students to develop their creative writing skills by stepping into the shoes of other people and writing from their point of view. Students also got the chance to ask questions, including what life is like as an author and the process of getting a book published, as well as get their copy of a Sarah Ann Juckes book signed!

It’s been a fantastic week that all our students have enjoyed! Special thanks for Mrs Orton and our English team for organising the week, and a big thank you to Sarah Ann Juckes for coming into our school and inspiring our students – all books by Sarah can be borrowed from our library 📚
