Hopeful Futures exhibition

Wednesday 19th April saw the opening of an exhibition at De Montfort University, to mark 30 years since the racially motivated murder of Stephen Lawrence.

The Stephen Lawrence Centre at DMU hosted Dr Joy White, Imran Khan, and Professor David Arkady for the opening of the Hopeful Futures exhibition. Thirteen of our students, who won the competition to have their poems, drama and artwork exhibited, are visited the centre for the event.

On Wednesday evening, a representative from the Academy attended the inaugural lecture by Imran Khan, a prominent lawyer who represented the Lawrence family and is currently representing the families in the Grenfall disaster, which looked at issues around policing and race, then and now.
