Important Information for Year 11 Parents

This mailing contains some very important information for Year 11 parents, including accessing your child’s assessment and motivation information, Examination Rules & Regulations and the Mock Examinations.

Assessment and Effort Data

Your child’s latest assessment and effort information is now available via the MyEd app.  Should you have any issues logging on email: app@clcc.college  .  Please take the time to discuss this with your child and ensure they are focused on making improvements where needed.

Mock Examinations

As you will be aware from my last letter, the bulk of written mock examinations will take place between Monday 13th November and Friday 24th November.  Please note that language orals and art exams will take place after this.  These are very important examinations as they give us quite an accurate assessment of how well your child is progressing in his/her studies and help us to decide the level of entry for the GCSE examinations taken in the summer term.

It is essential that these examinations are taken seriously as we run them strictly in line with the Examination Boards’ Regulations.  This means that students:

  • must enter the examination room in silence and be silent throughout the examination;
  • must bring the right equipment for the examination such as pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, calculator;
  • must not bring mobile phones to college during the examination period.  Mobile phones must not be taken into the examination room and any student found in possession of one, or one that rings in the examination room, will fail that examination.  There can be no exceptions to this rule.
  • must not bring ‘smart’ watches into the examination room (e.g. Apple Watch).

We are very strict about these procedures and more detailed information will be on the reverse of your child’s mock timetable.

Attendance at the College during Mock Examinations

  • All students must attend the college as normal during the mock examination period.
  • When students are not taking mock examinations they must attend lessons as usual.
  • For morning examinations, students must arrive at the college at the normal time (by 8.25am) and go to registration.
  • All College buses will operate at the usual times throughout this period.

Examination Information for students

For your information, an outline exam timetable is available on our website under News & Dates > Exam Timetables.  In addition, students will be issued with a detailed timetable informing them of the exact times of each examination, the examination room and their individual seat number.  This information will also be available in the canteen during the examination period.  This is the system we will use during the actual GCSE Examinations.

Mock Results Day

We will collate all the mock examination results and hold a mock results day which will be on

Thursday 14th December.  Your child will receive all their results in one go during registration. By doing this we hope to replicate the feelings of opening results that students will have in August where they can see hard work and revision have paid off.  Results will be made available to parents on the My Ed app on the same day.

Parents’ Evening Dates

Year 11 Parents’ Evening takes place on Thursday 11th January.  Please put the date in your diary.

As this is an important event, please make every effort to attend and encourage your son/daughter to make the necessary appointments with their teachers prior to the evening.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish Year 11 good luck in their mock examinations.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Sleath

Principal
